AHMEDABAD AUDITIONS :: MISS INDIA 2010 :: SUCCESSFULL CANDIDATES

Ahmedabad: High heels, high expectations, high blood-pressure and higher dreams summed up the scene at Pantaloons on Friday afternoon. Pantaloons Femina Miss India, the giant in beauty pageants, invited Tanvi Vyas, a native of Vadodara and 2008 Miss India contestant, to judge 35 registered contestants in Ahmedabad.
Ahmedabad is one of the six cities in the country where girls can register for the beauty pageant. The afternoon kicked off with introduction of 11 contestants, who were picked from registered contestants from Ahmedabad, Surat, Baroda and many other cities in Gujarat and also Delhi.
Upbeat music eased the initial anxiety of the contestants who walked the ramp watched by excited spectators.
As the last contestant completed her rampwalk, the room again filled up with clouds of anxiety.
Vyas walked into the centre carrying the results on a paper. The announcement she made changed the lives of Priyanka Patel, 23, Bindi Desai, 20, and Sangita Khanayat, 23.
The three girls, all residents of Ahmedabad, will now participate in the elimination round in Mumbai later this year.
Vyas said, “This year, we have two winners who re-applied after losing last year. To have this determination and thirst to be in the pageant is the core to being a winner.”
A jubilant Priyanka Patel, studying MBA in Manipal, said, “Last year, I got an idea how tough the competition was. There I learned that even minor details like speech, posture, body language and communication are required to be upto mark.” For Bindi Desai, faculty of AIMS, this was a proud moment. “Being a Gujarati, winning this event makes me especially proud,” she said.
Organizers were happy to see the overwhelming response to the evnt in Gujarat this year, as the number of registered female contestants rose to 35 from the 16 last year.
