Celina was fine but more suited for Earth / World. This is the BIGGEST Blunder in the history of MISS INDIA PAGEANT. Deepti Gujral was a victim of the over zealous Q/A rounds at FEMINA , She failed to move to top 5. How did Maheshwary , Kanwal toor or even Namita edge her out ? She would have given DENISSE A run for her money ! What did we gain by sending Celina , She faltered at the Q/A round . Even in the worst case scenario Deepti would have been at 5th spot also !

ZAINAB

Although Neha did us proud , ZAINAB was my ultimate favourite ! At 5'9" she was so hot and sexy ! Yet again she was a victim of the horrible top 10 Q/A Round !! WHY ON EARTH WE HAVE THEM ? She had an amazing body and would have been a strong candidate for Miss Universe. Shruti Sharma overcame her by lying in her Q/A round .. Shows the fallacy of teh round !

SHONAL RAWAT

The Most beautiful Miss India contestant ever ... and Guess what would you believe she was eliminiated in the cursed top 10 Q./A round ! Nothing new. This is a crimw to let go of such a beauty and for what ?? NIKITA ANAND !! It just adds to frustration , NIKITA did not even get to open her mouth . SHONAL was towering at 5'11 and had amazing poise and was later crowned 1st Runner up at Miss Asia Pacific ! and what did the super brainy NIKITA gave us back ... BREAKING THE 11 YEAR OLD STREAK OF MISS INDIA AT MISS UNIVERSE

MUGDHA GODSE

Ok so Tanushree is one of my fav Miss Indias. She made the most of whatever little she had ,Lets face it Tanushree was awfully short , I know it she was 5'4" ! Period. But still she gave her best , But why to compromise when you had an already ferocious girl ready in the form of Mugdha Godse ! You guessed it right , She was eliminated in the DREADED TOP 10 Q/A ROUND !! AND YEAH the same story continues Tanushree was eliminated in the Swimsuit round and didnt get to open her mouth as well !!

SONAL CHAUHAN

Just when you thought that things cant go worse 2005 happens , This Gorgeous Lass was eliminated when in the top 10 she was asked what is yoru fav comic character , to which she hubly replied Archies ! And thats it .. And to add to our woes AMRITA THAPAR won Miss India Universe and we all know how big an embarrassment she was for us . TODAY , SONAL has made it to Bollywood while Sindhura is still struggling and AMRITA and NIHARIKA Who r they ??

AISHWARYA SAKHUJA

Ok so 2006 is one of my fav Miss India Trios , But still I believe that NATASHA SURI was ROBBED in the sense she was to go to Miss universe, Aishwarya should have been up there for MISS WORLD. Definitely she was better than NEHA KAPUR , TANYA VAKIL or even SONALI SEHGAL. at 5'10 and having such a great face and hot figure she was the complete package , But as is the case the top 10 Q/A round just would not let her go further ! What a shame !

ESHA GUPTA

2007 will always be that classic year when the TOP 10 Q/A round MASACCRED Everything. Not only this Hottest Miss India contestant ever was eliminated from the top 5 , worse still SARAH JANE DIAS Won Miss India . Yes , that Same SARAH JANE DIAS who was voted as WORST body by her co contetants became Miss India because FEMINA wanted a NARI MUKTI ANDOLAN SPOKEPERSON and not a MODEL for MISS UNIVERSE. What were they thinking? Sarah Jane was a compete disaster at Miss World. Never have i seen a Miss India been so blatantly ignored at MISS WORLD . NEVER. Atleast Sayali was in top model and in book makers list But Sarah ?? How can you even compare Sarah and ESHA . This top 10 Q/.A Round is a CRIME !!

KAJAL JAIN

She was tall and beautiful ! And yes she had full confidence ! But pity she spoke in HINDI , Yet she made most sense ! She gave a fantabulous answer at top 10 but was eliminated . We will never know why ! Even though Simran and Parvathy were at equal footing Kajal was no less , Infact she was a bit higher than Tanvi Harshita or even Sangeeta Chauhan . She could have been perfect for MISS EARTH instead of TANVI who was a total WHitewash . Tanvi was also very irresponsible as one can see she diod not prepare at all for the pageant

DIMPLE PATEL

Well Not really a victim of the top 10 , she didnt make the basic semi finalist cut ! What went wrong ? Maybe her inabilty to converse. But still I feel she should not have been wasted. What did EKTA ACHIEVE ? At the end EKTA gave a response "To love live and ROCK AND ROLL" Which i am sure even DIMPLE Could have done better ! Dimple was fierce aggressive Beautiful HOT Tall ... AAAAHHH Just perfect for Miss Universe, She was fav of MARC ALSO !! She would have don amazingly well at MISS EARTH , MISS INTL AND MISS UNIVERSE !

CONCLUSION : FEMINA , KEEPING THE TOP 10 Q/A ROUND IS SUICIDAL FOR YOU . THE INTERNATIONAL PAGEANTS NO LONGER CARE FOR THE BRAINY TYPES. YOU NEED TO HAVE BEAUTY FIRST . YOU HAVE LOST A LOT OF STUNNERS . AND LETS FACE IT THESE SO CALLED REJECTS HAVE MADE IT BIIGER THAN YOUR BRAINY MISS INDIAS
INSTEAD OF HAVING THE TOP 10 Q/A ROUND HAVE A DECENT EVENING GOWN AND A FIERCE CATWALK / SWIMSUIT ROUND . REST IS YORU DECISION

Miss India is known for crowning the not so pretty ones but really very smart women of substance !

There has been so many incidences in Femina Miss India Organization wherein there are no clues of the Winners but the Semi Finalists or even the Non Finalists have made it bigger than the winners !

1995

Esha Kopikkar a Non Finalist of Miss India 1995 Pageant today is a well known Actress.

The Winners that year were : Manpreet Brar ( Ist RU : Miss Universe ) ,Preeti Mankotia ( Unplaced @ MW ) , Ruchi ( Ist Runner up Miss Asia Pacific !)

Today no one knows or cares about Manpreet and co , But Esha has made it big! She is an A level Bollywood star and was recently invited to be a judge at Miss Universe pageant .

Perhaps the Weakest trio ! Amrita (Unplaced at Miss Universe) , Sindhura ( Top 16 at MW ) , Niharika ( Unplaced) had a very short limelight period ! They just could not take mileage of the Miss India fame .
Rather Sonal Chauhan , A top 10 finalist , took full advantage of whatever little coverage she got and became a Bollywood Star. She also won Miss Tourism International 2005.
There are no whereabouts of the Winners, Sindhura is a struggling actress and trying to associate herself with Femina!

Jacqueline Fernandes , Miss Sri Lanka Universe 2006 , was a non finalist as compared to Neha Kapoor Miss India 2006 who reached top 20 ! Irony is , Jacqueline has grabbed an A Level Bollywood Project Aladin starring Amitabh Bachan. She will soon become a household name . Infact , 2009 edition of Miss India saw Jacqueline feature everywhere. She was more of a Miss India rather than Miss Sri Lanka ! And Neha Kapoor ? Atleast before Miss India she had an illustrious Modelling career , Now not even that !

Oh Puja ! I had so much hopes from you ! Puja Gupta perhaps the most beautiful Miss India ever was cut to make it big in bollywood! God knows what went wrong, She just disappeared after her Miss Universe feat. Sarah and Pooja Chitgopekar , eh , the less said the better!
But another stunner was blatantly ignored by both the Miss India Organization and Miss International Organization later . She was Esha Gupta , Who was just a TOP 10 finalist !
Today Esha has been branded as the Angelina of the East. She is a top Super Model . Whereas the Winnners are nowhere to be seen !

At the age of 18, she told her father that she wanted to come to Mumbai to work. In 1998, she entered the Miss India contest without the knowledge of anyone in her family and was surprised to be short-listed and came to Mumbai to participate in the finals. Her father was astounded at her decision to enter the contest. No one believed she could make it to the finals. She borrowed Rs 2 lakh from her father on the condition that she would return it. She came to Mumbai and began preparations to enter the final of the contest with earnestness. She had her contest outfit designed and made by Manish Malhotra. She made it to the final round becoming one of the final five contestants.

Desperate to pay her loan back, she appeared for the Jet Airways hostess interview. Her sister, who also applied, got the job but Smriti was rejected. She then took a counter job at McDonalds, serving burgers and swabbing the floors and cleaning tables. Throughout these months of desperation, she kept visiting various agencies, doing auditions and portfolios and leaving her pictures at every TV production company. She was present in the Famous Studio in Mumbai for auditions every day but no one took her seriously.


Finally, lady luck began to shine on her. She was chosen to do the black and white commercial for Whisper. Next, she anchored a show called Filmi Batein for In Mumbai and Etc. channels. Shrey Guleri of Prime Channel saw these appearances on television and called her. As a result, she did some episodes of the show called Bakeman’s Oh La La. Shobha Kapoor in turn saw these and she asked her to meet Ekta at Balaji Telefilms. Smriti met Ekta and as time passed, thought nothing was coming through. But one day, she was asked to come over to audition for Tulsi’s role in KSBKBT she was chosen for this role and the rest, as they say, is history. After KSBKBT became the top soap in India, her career was made.

Smriti Irani in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi (Mother-in-law was once a daughter-in-law) is the biggest TV female star in India and has more fan following than any bollywood star.
