HERBAL MUD BATH:

* 2-3 foot pit is dogged near river or lake, & black oily sand is taken out. It is crushed & filtered. Than it is dried in sunlight. Before using it, soak it for 12 hours in water.

TO PREPARE THE HERBAL MUD:

* Black sand, yellow ochre powder, orange shell powder, white sand powder, rose leaves powder & turmeric is mixed.

Pour the herbal mud in clean container, mix cold water in it. Make a paste by shaking it with wooden spoon in such a manner so that it can be easily applied on the whole body.

After soaking it in water for 12 hours, apply it on the whole body & sit in sun for 15- 60 minutes, according to the need.

When the paste is dried, remove it with cold water by massaging. This way mud massage will also be done.

EYE CARE

1. The best overall eye tonic is eyebright (an herb). Make a tea of it and either usethe teabags or soak cotton balls or soft gauze in the tea and apply to eyes as a compress while lying down.

2. For puffy and swollen eyes, make a wet compress of 4 Tbsp. freshly grated raw potato. Place on the eyes for about 15 minutes, then rinse with cold water.

3. To reduce swelling and for bags under the eyes, brew a cup of strong rosehip tea. Soak 2 cotton balls in the tea or use 2 tea bags, lie down and place over the eyes.

4. For dark cirles, cut a fresh fig in half, place a half over each eye.



5. To soothe tired, irritated eyes, cut the end of a cumber into 1/4 in thick slices. Apply a cool slice to each eye.

6. Raw potato slices laid on sore eyes reduces heat and redness.

7. For eye puffiness, any tea bag (herbal is better, especially eyebright), slightly cooled, placed on the eyes while you rest.

8. For tired or bloodshot eyes, soak sterile cotton balls or soft cloth in cold skim milk. Place over eyes for 10 minutes. Rinse entire face in warm,then cool, water.

9. To lighten dark circles under your eyes, wrap a grated raw potato in cheesecloth and apply to eyelids for 15-20 minutes. Rinse with warm water.

YOGA IS A WAY OF LIFE !

Yoga is a way of life. It is predominantly concerned with maintaining a state of equanimity at all costs. All yoga schools of thought emphasize the importance of the mind remaining calm, because as the saying goes, only when the water is still can you see through it. Yoga Darshan or Yoga Philosophy also happens to be a valid discipline of Indian metaphysics (Brahma Vidya). It is the result of human wisdom and insight on physiology, psychology, ethics and spirituality collected together and practiced over thousands of years for the well being of humanity.

The basic idea of yoga is to unite the atma or individual soul with the paramatma or the Universal Soul. According to Yoga philosophy, by cleansing one's mind and controlling one's thought processes one can return to that primeval state, when the individual self was nothing but a part of the Divine Self. This is the sense encapsulated in the term samadhi. The aim of the yogi is to be able to perceive the world in its true light and to accept that truth in its entirety.

In Sanskrit, the term 'yoga' stands for 'union'. A yogi's ultimate aim is to be able to attain this 'union' with the Eternal Self with the help of certain mental and physical exercises. It is often said that Hiranyagarbha (The Cosmic Womb) Himself had originally advocated the traditional system of yoga, from which all other yoga schools have evolved. But for all extant knowledge of yoga and its practices, such as yogasanas and pranayama, the entire credit goes to Maharishi Patanjali.

Patanjali systematized the various yogic practices and traditions of his times by encapsulating them in the form of aphorisms in his Yoga Sutra. In this momentous work, he describes the aim of yoga as knowledge of the self and outlines the eight steps or methods of achieving it. These are:

• Yamas or eternal vows
• Niyamas or observances
• Yogasanas or yoga postures
• Pranayama or breath control exercises

• Pratyahara or withdrawal of the senses from distractions of the outside world
• Dharana or concentration on an object, place or subject

• Dhyana or the continuance of this concentration-meditation

• Samadhi or the ultimate stage of yoga meditation


The collation of these eight steps is known as "Patanjali's Ashtanga Yoga".
