From the beautiful cantonment town of Lansdowne in Uttarakhand, engineering student Anukriti Gusain has, with her charming personality won the Miss India Delhi 2013 title and joined the race toward becoming the next Miss India. Adjudged Miss Timeless Beauty and Miss Glowing Skin during the state pageant, Anukriti is confident of her strengths and she assures to mesmerise all at the international platform too, if crowned the next Miss India.
You have sailed through the state pageant competition by winning the Miss Delhi 2013 title and successfully made your way into the main pageant as a finalist. What is your current state of mind?
The one thing which is running through my mind is to win Miss India 2013 and ultimately bring the Miss World crown back to my country.
Tell us a bit about your journey as a model to becoming a beauty queen. What was the inspiration behind seeing yourself as a Miss India?
I have believed in this simple rule that, 'one should always play to win' since my childhood days and I have not lost faith in the same. I have tasted victory in whatever I've done. I was always a topper in school; as an engineering student too, I topped my college, and for all other competitions, the winner's trophy had my name written on it. I wish to continue with this winning streak and give my best in everything I do. I started my journey as an engineer and what followed was all new and first time experience. My parents have encouraged me and believed in me through all times.
Please elaborate on the kind of training you are going through for the big day
Competition is really tough and I have to win, and for that to happen, I have to work hard and I think I am doing that. I am taking care of my skin and following regular workout routines to keep fit.
About your fitness routine and health regime
As an engineering student, I had a very poor exercise routine, but now I am improving on that front. I try to eat healthy and maintain a balanced diet that includes lots of fruits and green vegetables. I play basketball, a great fitness sport that keeps me in shape.
What does it mean to be a Miss India and where do you see yourself after winning the prestigious title?
Miss India is the most prestigious pageant where women who are a mix of both beauty and brain take home the crown. This is a challenge for me that I have accepted and am working towards it everyday. I'd be honoured if I win and do something for my beloved country. It would definitely be my biggest achievement ever.
What will be your winning strategy? What sets you apart from the other girls?
The mantra that I abide by is this, "believe in yourself and forget about others". Beauty is essential but beauty without a brain stands nowhere.
Any subtitle contest(s)/title(s) in the pageant that you are confident of winning?
Given a chance, I would like to grab all titles but I think I am more confident about winning 'Glowing Skin' and 'Beautiful Eyes' subtitles.
