Miss Delaware USA crowned

Delaware has chosen its delegate to the Miss USA 2013 pageant.
Rachel Biaocco was crowned Miss Delaware USA on Sunday at the Sheraton Hotel in Dover.
She describes herself in her Twitter profile as "Model. Actor. Animal lover. Fluent in sarcasm. Nerdy McNerd."
If Biaocco wins the national crown, she will represent the United States in the Miss Universe 2013 pageant.
Both the Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants are co-owned by Donald Trump and NBC Universal, and both will be broadcast live on the NBC television network.
Melissa King was crowned Miss Delaware Teen USA 2013.
She will represent Delaware at the Miss Teen USA 2013 pageant. In recent years, the pageant has been webcast live during the summer from The Bahamas.
"The focus for this program is to provide an opportunity for young women to better themselves; the pageant encourages the contestants to gain self-awareness, self-confidence, individual pride, and greater social awareness," state pageant officials state on the pageant website. "Each contestant should be able to improve their ability to communicate effectively, to speak in front of people comfortably, and to stand up for what they believe in. We encourage our contestants to find causes or issues they feel strongly about, and to become involved in those organizations that speak closest to their hearts. Each young lady who enters has different ideals and goals and strives hard in their personal quest for excellence."
