Tamil Nadu Budget Highlights 2013 - 2014:
General:
- Rs 2.11 lakh Crore Budget spending this year
- 4.61% Growth Rate. Drought, power cut has affected growth
- No change in Tax Rates. No new taxes. Existing Tax rates to continue
- Rs, 37,000 to be allotted for various schemes this year
- Rs 22,939 cr Deficit
- Rs 6,452 cr for Road Highways. Chennai-Mamallapuran road to be made 4-way
- Rs 750 crore for Metro Rail
- Rs 21,000 cr for new Power Projects. North Chennai 2nd Power Plant to operationalise in October
- Rs 16,965 cr for School Education
- Rs 4,900 crore for Food Subsidy
- Rs 250 crore allotted to distribute 12,000 free cows, 6 lakh free goats to women this year
- Rs 32.5 cr to set up 7 new Rice Mills
- 2 lakh Free house land pattas to be distributed in 2013-14
- Rs 362 cr for free dhoti, saree
- Aadhar Linked schemes to be implemented throughout the state
- Rs 99.73 crore to eliminate Urban Poverty
School Education:
- Rs 16,965 cr for School Education
- Rs 217 cr for free textbooks to 97 lakh students
- Rs 110 cr for free notebooks to 86 lakh students
- Rs 381 cr for stipend to 24.76 lakh students
- Rs 700 cr for Education for All scheme
- Rs 322 cr for free bus pass to students
Agriculture:
- Rs 5,189 crore allotted for agri sector (up Rs 1,385 crore from last year)
- Rs. 39,235 Cr agri-loans to be distributed this year
- Rs 237 crore built 2270 storage infrastructure
- Rs 161 crore for quality seed production
- Vegetables farm land to be increased to 8.2 lakh acre
- Rs 1082 crore for Animal Husbandary
- Rs 42 crore for crop insurance
- Rs 50 cr for Nun-neer pasanam
- Rs 34 cr for Vegetable waste recycling
- Rs 50 cr for liquid fertilizer in Nun-Neer Pasanam
- Rs 21 crore for Garden development Skill schemes
- Rs 200 crore fro Fisheries
Police, Judiciary:
- Rs 695 Crore for judiciary
- 17,000 vacancies to be filled in Police Dept
- Rs. 4,706 crore for Polce Dept
- Rs. 208 Cr for Fire Dept
- Rs 50 crore allotted for Police Station building infrastructure
Other:
- 2,700 lakh acre land retrieved through anti land forgery law
- Rs 56 cr for linking rivers
- 65 lakh tree saplings to be planted
- Rs 750 cr for CM insurance scheme
- Rs 880 cr for Environment dept
- Rs 1400 cr for primary Healthcare
- Rs 750 cr for Maternity care
- 2 bridge at Madurai Kalavasal, Koripalayam. 4 bridges in Chennai
- Rs 2000 crore for infrastructure
- Rs 1500 cr for 6 lakh fre laptops to students
- Rs 100 cr for Plastic recycles roads
- Solar Power in all Govt Buildings.
- 9914 vacancies filled in Cooperative societies
- Rs 37 Crore for drinking water
- Rs 39 cr for Tamil Development
- Rs 5 crore to develop skill of youth
- Rs 2 cr for Thanjai Tamil University
- 8 new Art Colleges to be set up
- MGREGA pay increased from Rs 138 to Rs 142
- Drought has been announced in all districts except Chennai
- Drought Relief of Rs. 15,000 per acre to benefit nearly 3 lakh farmers. To cost Rs 541 crore to Govt
- OPS praising Jayalalithaa for nearly 8 minutes. Thundering appalause by MLA's on 21st March 2013 in State Assembly Budget Session.
